Thurston Manufacturing Company was recognized at a White House and U.S. Department of Agriculture event on February 17, 2012 for their manufacturing success in a rural community. Ryan Jensen, Vice President of Operations at Thurston Manufacturing, and John Grose and Allen Hansen, representatives of First National Bank of Omaha, attended the event. Thurston Manufacturing Co. and 70 other businesses were recognized at the event for their accomplishments.
Since being incorporated in 1971, Thurston Manufacturing Co. has become a leader in the manufacturing of farm equipment and side dump semi-trailers. The 41 year old company continues to expand and soon the number of employees at the company will match the number of people in the town that encompasses it. “We’ve been very fortunate to be in the ag industry because that economy has been booming,” Jensen said. The current 43,000 square foot expansion, backed by an USDA-guaranteed loan from First National Bank of Omaha, will create new jobs and increase efficiency. While largely increasing manufacturing capacity, the expansion will help grow not only domestic sales, but also increase exports overseas
